I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits.

Kindly refer to our meaningful interaction on 23 June 2026 during the BCU Symposium, where we had the opportunity to deliberate on the critical environmental challenges confronting Buddha Darya and the urgent need for a comprehensive, sustainable and long-term solution for its restoration.

In continuation of our discussion, I have the honour to forward herewith a Suggested Proposal on the “Integrated Common Treatment Model for the Restoration of Buddha Darya, Ludhiana” for your kind perusal and consideration.

The proposal is based on the concept of “Decentralize – Pre-treat – Combine – Polish – Reuse”, integrating decentralized treatment systems, interceptor drains/pipelines, modular common treatment plants, nature-based ecological solutions, real-time monitoring and the principle of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD). It seeks to address pollution at its source by identifying Pollution Vulnerable Areas and Vulnerable Points, thereby reducing the burden on centralized treatment facilities while promoting efficient resource recovery and reuse.

The suggested model combines modern engineering practices with ecological restoration, scientific planning, institutional coordination and community participation. It is hoped that this integrated approach may provide a practical and sustainable framework for restoring Buddha Darya and safeguarding the River Satluj for future generations.

I shall feel greatly obliged if the proposal could kindly be examined by the concerned departments and technical experts for its feasibility and possible incorporation into the ongoing and future river rejuvenation initiatives of the Government of Punjab.
